BELL has been manufacturing quality tanks for use in construction, mining and agricultural applications around the world for as long as we have been building haulage trucks and trailers. Bell has developed a formidable reputation for building quality tanks with reliable after sales support. Parts for our tanks are available through our Bell-owned service centres and dealer network.
Bell tanks are specifically designed to fit our Articulated Dump Truck (ADT) chassis. To ensure that they are as stable as possible, the centre of gravity is as low as possible by designing the tanks to fit around the wheel arches and chassis. The tanks use the standard bin pivot pin attachment and hydraulic cylinder attachment points, and bin rest points. Bell tanks can be fitted to a brand new ADT, or retrofitted to an older machine at one of Bell’s regional workshops. Bell manufactures tanks from 15 000 litre to 45 000 litre capacities.
After sales and product support is provided through our network of company-owned and dealer network.
A robust and heavy duty internal baffle system, incorporating the use of specialized steel in critical areas will ensure a long life free of failures. The baffles are arranged in compartments to control the surging effect of water and other liquids. There are at least two longitudinal structural baffles, and at least three lateral baffles. Taking care to position and balance the tank on the chassis will ensure stability, handling, and trouble-free life. This attention to detail and Bell’s high quality standards will make your tanker the longest lasting tank on the market.
We use a range of pumps Depending on your specific requirements we use a range of pumps with flow rates from 800 l/min. Full pump speed is achieved at engine idle rpm. A flexible coupling is installed between the pump and the motor to minimize vibration and prolong component life. The system is simple using one pump for both suction and spraying. A directional valve to switch between suction and discharge is located at the rear of the tank. Higher capacity pumps are available for each model on special request.
The discharge or water pump is activated and operated using the standard base dump truck’s hydraulic body hoist pump system. When the discharge pump is turned on at the dashboard, the bin-up hydraulics are activated sending hydraulic oil to the discharge pump. The hydraulic oil used to power the tank pump is part of the main machine hydraulics, and shares the same filtration, cooling and reservoir system.
Spray Control System
The operator is able to control the spray nozzles and water nozzles from inside the cab. The activation solenoids are protected from dust and water ingress. All harness wiring is sealed against the elements by using high quality cabling, sheathing and quality connectors.
Tank Level Indicator
A simple full height clear tube is located on the front of the tank in a protected channel providing clear visibility of the water or fuel level to anyone on the ground and the operator inside the cab.
The standard spray heads fitted to our tanks provide good fan volume, 180 º spread width and direction, and are made of brass. The spray heads are automatically activated when pump is turned on in cab
Rear Spray Bars
Both vertically and horizontally-mounted spray bars are available. It is possible to fit both. The spray bar consists of a 125 mm steel pipe running the full width, or height, of the tank. A spray width of at least 9 metres can be achieved on all tanker sizes.
A suitable length of flexible external suction hose with a strainer is provided along with a foot valve control. A priming tap is provided for easy priming of the suction hose.
Bell tanks are internally grit blasted prior to application of heavy anti-corrosive twin pack epoxy then top coated with dealer choice of one colour. The external surface is prepared and painted in the same manner as all Bell machines. Other colours and custom graphics can be requested.
Two or more 500 mm diameter hinged manhole covers provide filling and service access to the tank compartment to make maintenance of the interior coating as easy and safe as possible.
All Bell tanks include access ladders/steps with handrails to the top of the tank. Anti-skid walkway on roof of tank make a safe surface. Folding and customized safety railing is available upon request.
Dual tail lights, top and bottom of tank are installed for more visibility in various applications.
The tail lights on Bell tanks are LED type for long life and low maintenance. An optional rear-facing light mounted to the back of the cab is available.
Water cannons/monitors are available on special request. They are a stainless steel swivel joint design. They can either be controlled remotely via electrics from the cab or manually from the top of the tank.
Should you require your tanker to be used as a fire engine, the tanker can be equipped with a foam agent system, spraying foam through the water cannon. The system includes a foam agent tank imbedded into the main water tank, adjustable foam nozzle, and actuation controls.
Standard fire fighting quick couplers can be added for hose connections.
