Bell consolidates its position in construction and mining

Published: 17 May 2022

After a COVID-19 induced break Bell Equipment has made up for lost time at NAMPO 2022 by dedicating its stand, C21, entirely to the Bell range of construction and mining machinery to reinforce the company’s ability to meet any customer’s need in these industries.

Bell Equipment Sales South Africa Managing Director, John Fleetwood said: “A lot has happened since we last exhibited at NAMPO and we are looking forward to interacting with visitors and customers face-to-face and showing them our exciting developments.

“This month (May) marks a year since Bell Equipment Sales South Africa (BESSA) became the South African dealer for the JCB range of construction equipment, which was the culmination of a long-term project to ensure that the South African dealership was best positioned to support customers across a multitude of industries. BESSA now distributes an impressive range of equipment including locally designed and manufactured by Bell Articulated Dump Trucks (ADTs), Kobelco excavators, Finlay crushers and screens and the full range of JCB wheeled loaders, telehandlers, backhoes, excavators, skid steers, forklifts and compaction equipment.

“The JCB product offering is proving to be a good fit for our business and has really strengthened our local offering. NAMPO is our first opportunity to show display the JCB range to the public.”

Recognition as a B-BBEE Level 1 contributor is another development that positions BESSA favourably in the local market. It enables BESSA’s customers and suppliers to increase their competitiveness by maximising the benefit of their procurement spend with Bell and increasing their own BEE scores.

John commented: “BESSA is ideally positioned as our construction and mining-focused dealer in South Africa with over 20 strategically located branches across the country backed by our state-of-the-art Bell Global Logistics Centre (GLC) in Johannesburg. We also have a management team which has proven themselves to have a comprehensive understanding of our business and those of our construction and mining customers to take our business forward.”

John took on the role of BESSA Managing Director from November 2021 and is no stranger to Bell having joined the company in 2007 as an International Product Support Representative. Soon after he was promoted to a technical Support Management role and then gathered institutional knowledge and experience in various management roles including Aftermarket Product Marketing Manager at the GLC, Group Technical Manager, MD of Bell Zambia and Central GM for BESSA.

Bell Equipment will also place focus on the agriculture sector at a second NAMPO stand, F8, where the company will be showcasing the Bell Equipment Forestry and Agriculture range and the JCB Agriculture range.
