It’s non-negotiable, and you need the parts before they wear or break. But sometimes parts don’t wear or break, and then OEMs and suppliers end up with surplus parts, especially for end-of-series machines.

Rather than allowing OEM parts to occupy warehouse resources indefinitely or alternatively dispose of it, the Bell Surplus Parts website provides a global catalogue of surplus parts where machine owners around the world can search for and easily get in touch with a Bell representative. “It allows us to reach audiences that we would otherwise not have access to, such as owners of Bomag equipment in Europe. Alternative parts suppliers are marketing these same types of parts, so we believe there is a market out there,” says Halvar.
Importantly, from an ESG perspective, the initiative supports the group’s commitment to responsible resource management and environmental sustainability. “The alternative to selling surplus parts at an attractive price is to discard them, which is the last thing we want to do from a sustainability standpoint. These are brand new parts, and they deserve to be used for what they were originally made for. A lot of energy, raw materials and engineering went into every one of them and by finding new owners for these parts, we will reduce waste and extend the useful life of OEM parts that still meet the required standard and specifications.”
Bell Equipment Inventory Analyst, Ekisha Andhee, adds that the website has been intentionally designed to be user-friendly with an e-commerce look and feel, allowing visitors to search and filter by part number or material description. “Photographs are provided for every part to give customers that important visual representation, so they can actually see what they’re getting, rather than scrolling through a spreadsheet of part numbers.”
