Bell Equipment UK takes heartfelt action for charitable causes

Staff from the company’s UK headquarters in Barton-under-Needwood chose to support the closely-linked causes; with the BHF striving to fund life-saving research and support those affected by heart and circulatory diseases, and Derbyshire Blood Bikes providing an urgent medical courier service locally to the NHS.

Activities including the sale of raffle tickets for a donated week-long holiday to Falmouth, organising a cake sale, a Christmas jumper day and selling BHF badges each helped to generate funds. In addition, the team put more in the pot by asking visitors attending the renowned Hillhead Quarry Exhibition in Buxton to donate charitable contributions in exchange for hamburgers. Together their cash-collecting activities resulted in a donation of £1,350 for the British Heart Foundation.

Adding to their fundraising efforts, Bell Equipment UK also raised £450 to purchase a set of tyres for Derbyshire Blood Bikes. The charity, which is closely linked to the BHF, is voluntarily supported by a relative of the Bell Equipment team, who donates his time to act as a Blood Biker.

“We’re delighted to have been able to support these two impressive causes,” says Nick Learoyd, Managing Director of Bell Equipment UK. “Bell UK employees were keen to raise funds for the British Heart Foundation and, as our Parts Manager’s father-in-law actively rides for Blood Bikers, merging our fundraising efforts to benefit two related organisations seemed a good idea.

“We hope our contributions will help make a difference. We’ve enjoyed gathering the funds as a team and have already decided to revive our efforts with the intention of buying another set of motorbike tyres soon.

“Widening our charitable scope, we’ve again asked our Barton-under-Needwood team for their ‘peoples’ preference’ regarding a new chosen charity for 2019. The Burton-on-Trent RSPCA has been selected, so we anticipate collecting as much as possible to create the maximum impact for this fantastic local branch of the national charity.”
