In a few weeks we will close the chapter on 2020 and what an extraordinary year it has been. The global COVID-19 pandemic has magnified the challenges that the Southern Africa region faces and changed the way we live and interact with one another.

While Bell has not been immune to the impact of COVID-19 on the business and its people, we are grateful for the low rate of infection among our employees. We are proud of the way in which everyone has pulled together to safeguard the team’s well-being and that of our stakeholders, and ensure our customers continue to receive quality service.

More positive news is that following our B-BBEE transaction earlier this year, our South African sales and distribution division, Bell Equipment Sales South Africa Limited (BESSA), achieved a B-BBEE Level 1 contributor rating in its latest assessment. This shows our commitment to sustainable transformation and enables BESSA customers and suppliers to increase their competitiveness by maximising the benefit of their procurement spend with us and increasing their own BEE scores.

While we anticipate another tough year in 2021, we believe that we have the capacity and the people to recover from the delay the virus caused earlier this year. The fundamental strength of our product range and the quality of our distribution and support networks will count for us in the post COVID-19 recovery.
